Alexander Espinosa

Math has always been one of my favorite classes. My perseverance, hard work, and time spent in its practice have made me one of the top students. I started developing the ability to tutor because of the help my classmates and some members of my family requested from me in their Math assignments. I realized that for the first time, I found true enjoyment by applying myself to mathematics and having the opportunity of working with people in an intellectual level.

My first official job as a Math tutor was in the API. Even though I was receiving payment for tutoring, my students received the same enthusiasm, respect, and help as my ex-classmates and members of my family. I felt very lucky for being able to work doing what I really liked. Although it was difficult to manage work while studying, this stage of my life was one of the most exciting.

During this time, I developed the ability of being both a friend and a leader while tutoring, so the students felt comfortable while being tutored. I talked to them not only about Math, but also about education in general, time management, and professional tips based on my own experience. My passion for teaching and the opportunity of being a peer leader have made me responsible to help my students achieve high academics. I became good at Math since it is a fundamental requisite for my major.

I am a few months away from completing my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and I have been accepted in a Master’s Program in the same field. This field is part of everything we do, and computer jobs are here to stay regardless of where people are. Furthermore, I enjoy studying computers because I can put my knowledge of what I am learning into practice knowing that future opportunities in computers are without boundaries.

The experience I obtained in my previous and current jobs and internships have assured me that I am headed in the right path. The most fascinating experience is waking up in the morning happy because I love what I do- studying and working in a job related to my career. After my masters, I plan to pursue my PHD, even though, I am aware it requires hard work, and money. It is a sacrifice I am willing to make because this goal is what ignites the power inside me and makes me decide that I will achieve my goals.

In the present stage of my life, I feel I can achieve anything I want. My determination, hard work and perseverance have given me and will continue to grant me the tools and power I need to pursue my educational, professional, and personal goals.
